It is not a big place, but nice and neat, with very friendly staffs and lovely doggy. Convinience location, restaurants, market and local shops around. 10 mins walking distance to subway. 15 mins walking distance to a sightseeing and shopping point, nanluoguxiang. Enjoy chitchat with tourists and staffs at the characteristic courtyard.

Modest, friendly, convenient and with character, this little charming place tells quite a lot of traditional Beijing life than i originally expected. the owner Alex speaks good English and knows the area well. Get to meet some interesting people here as apparently it's some kind of a meeting point of local boho arts scene. quite cheerful!

Location near Drum and Bell tower and not far from Lama temple and nice Hutong streets
We paid a price (44euros/night) as if it were a very nice hotel room, as we expected after looking at the booking nice photos and recomendations, but finally it was one of the worts hostels we tryied in China, and far the most expensive one. We tought of change the hotel the first day, but we finally did'nt as we had such little time in Beijing we decided to pay much more than loosing more time carrying all the luggage to other hotel. The AC did'nt work, the room wasn't clean (there was a mess behind the bed), the bathroom was inside the room, only separated by a glass opened in the ceiling, and the window of the room was facing the courtyard in such a way that everybody could see everything inside the room WC included, of course) if the courtains were not closed. So the room was very dark too. Horrible

Friendly and helpful owner, cute rooms and courtyard. Located in a hutong that is very authentic - lots of locals, and very few tourists
tiny towels, thin walls, and it would be very difficult to find without help. Get the owner's cell number in advance, and have him meet you at one of the nearby landmarks.

unlike the featureless commercial hotels and somewhat pretentious boutique youth hostels, this is really the ideal place to experience genuine traditional beijing life, me and my girl spent a really good time here, thank you alex, you are a wonderful host...lovely courtyard and nicely-decorated room, convenient, homely, highly recommend.
the bed is a bit hard, but well it's not the ritz..we come here for the culture and atmosphere, plus it added much fun in experiencing "traditional family life" :)

Alex is a very nice host that will do his best so that you enjoy your stay. This is the best value for money you can get and the whole atmosphere will enchant you: seated in this cute traditional courtyard, listening to one of the house's vinyls in this warm environment, you will feel this is your home in Beijing. Thanks Alex and Jude!

We loved the place in the middle of a beautiful Hutong. Room was very beautiful and the courtyard even had a tree and bird. There was room to sit and have a beer. Staff was very friendly. Alex even bought medicine for us, because we would pay much more as a Chinese. Thanks again for all the help.

Alex is FANTASTIC! Friendly, knowledgable, great English -- terrific guy. The hutong is the best we experienced...active community, great sights, Drum and Bell bar, and Excuse Cafe are all great.
